Last week, two new campaigns launched and one ended successfully:

Sports for Sharing is a program that uses sports and games to connect with Mexican children and teach them the value of becoming change leaders in their communities. The Help Mexican Kids Attend a Sports for Sharing Camp campaign just launched and is raising money to send 90 Mexican children to a Sports for Sharing camp in 2012. The goal of the camp is to make children from high violence and lower socio-economic communities aware of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. The $2,000 tipping point goal will allow 35 children to be sponsored as attendees to the camp.
Bindle Bags fights homelessness by hiring homeless people to make women’s handbags. Profits from the sale of the bags allow Bindle Bags to provide a fair wage to employees and cover the costs of providing an emergency shelter for them to live while they get back on their feet. Funds raised for this campaign will help launch Bindle Bags. The $7,750 tipping point goal will go towards logistical costs such as rent, trademark fees, materials and equipment, branding and design, and marketing.
Who’s Who Wiki by PODER Mexico, the innovative open data site that empowers Latin American citizens to hold Latin American companies and high-powered executives accountable for their actions, just finished up its campaign, raising $9,350 from 66 backers. The funds will allow PODER to hire a part-time programmer to start building the wiki.
