From Sports Camp to Future Success

Sports for Sharing, located in Mexico City, Mexico, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Mexican youth engage in sports and exercise and develop life-long skills for success. To truly define their objectives, Sports for Sharing is striving to increase awareness of the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals to reduce poverty and improve lives throughout Mexico. Founded in 2007, Sports for Sharing currently works in 19 Mexican states and has impacted the lives of over 44,000 children.

Sports for Sharing is campaigning on StartSomeGood to raise funds and awareness about its upcoming project to send Mexican children to its summer sports camp. At this one-week camp, the children will play games, participate in sports, and learn about global and local environmental, educational, and cultural challenges. This camp employs leaders and volunteers who live with the children and support them throughout the week.

It costs about $55 to send one child to the Sports for Sharing camp. Sports for Sharing would love to send at least 35 children to its camp, hence the $2,000 tipping point goal. The ultimate goal, however, is to send 90 kids to camp for $4,950. So far, Sports for Sharing has raised $1,205, a little over half of its tipping point goal, from its community of supporters.
