A Voice For The Innocent

The prevalence of sexual abuse in our societies is astounding. Over 3 million American men and 18 million women in the United States have experienced rape or sexual abuse at some point in their lives. Concurrently, less than 90% of alleged sexual offenders face prosecution for their crimes. A Voice For The Innocent intends to help victims of sexual abuse by providing a platform where they can share their stories to a listening and non-judgmental ear, while also prioritizing their need for privacy and anonymity.

A Voice For The Innocent intends to ‘turn ashamed victims into proud survivors’, thus eliminating the stigma of shame and fear of judgment often associated with sexual abuse. It achieves this by building the confidence of victims, reinforcing the idea that they aren’t alone and can transition their experiences into positive and functional relationships in the future.

This campaign’s tipping point goal of $1,000 has already been achieved and will be used to register A Voice For The Innocent as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, print marketing merchandise that is essential to spreading the word, and build the support of an online community. Even more importantly, a free and discounted counseling service will be made possible. Now, A Voice For The Innocent is striving for its total funding goal. Reaching the $2,000 goal will help sustain merchandise stock, enable some money to be saved towards exciting events sponsorships, and host a thank you dinner for its sponsors.

Please consider assisting A Voice Force For The Innocent as it makes a positive difference in the lives of victims of sexual abuse. Follow A Voice For The Innocent on Twitter, “Like“ on Facebook, and help us spread the word about this awesome and deserving project.

I am a 23-year-old Londoner currently in law school. I have a BA in Politics and International Relations and an LLB in law. I have worked as a Student Facilitator for the British Red Cross, taught at local schools in Berkshire and have done a lot of pro bono legal research for Amnesty International and the Arizona Capital Trials Project. When I finish law school, I hope to start saving the world by working in developmental research and perhaps move to Paris to eat macaroons, dabble in photography and write stories. I’m also an avid reader, white wine drinker and world traveler.
